When you are thinking about what school to go to, it is important to look at safety. This page will give you some idea on why Hamilton is a very safe place to come to, and is better than other cities in New Zealand for the risk of crime and natural disasters.

Hamilton is a very safe city when it comes to crime. As of June 2013, crime rates in Hamilton are at a 20 year low. There are many ways to keep safe when it comes to crime, but no matter where you go, there is always some risk, even if it’s a small risk. Natural Disasters

Hamilton is one of the only cities not to have a low risk of a natural disaster. There is a very low risk of earthquakes, very low risk of volcanic activity, and a low-moderate risk of flooding and storm damage (mostly this refers to the outer regions of Hamilton, while the city remains very low risk). After the earthquake in Christchurch many businesses moved to Hamilton for its perceived very low risk and insurance companies have commented on Hamilton’s low claim rate for natural disasters or hazards.

By comparison Auckland has a low-moderate risk of volcanic activity and earthquakes. Christchurch has moderate risk of earthquakes. Wellington has a moderate risk of earthquakes and storm/flooding.
